Hall of Heroes tournaments held at the Showroom use the following rules.

Sportsmanship Scoring

Sportsmanship is a combination of attitude and composition.  Its overriding goal is to give feedback to the players at the end of the tournament of how their army and behaviour was perceived throughout the tournament by their opponents.  This encourages people to bring their best behaviour, positive attitude and balanced army lists, reinforcing the goal that this is supposed to be a fun day of playing with toy soldiers and meeting other gamers.

If you feel you cannot bring a positive attitude and contribute to this type of atmosphere we ask you to please reconsider your participation at our tournament, as it may not be the venue and activity for you.

Painting Scoring

We have tried numerous Hall of Heroes systems and scoring over the last couple years, all of which had their pros and cons.  We are using the checklist system now because it is clear, comprehensive and rewards both effort and skill.  We know that some people like to convert their models, while others are perfectly happy with taking them straight from the box, some hobbyists love to build elaborate display boards, while others recognize they lack the terrain building skills.

We believe that this checklist will go a long way towards clarifying what we consider the important aspects of Army Appearance.  Although the points show that they can be added up to 46, there is a cap of 40 points.  This is to ensure that well-painted armies are not penalized by a lack of conversions, and those well converted (but perhaps averagely painted) armies are still in the hunt.

You can find these rules in PDF format at the U.S. Games Workshop website here.
